			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Boeing&#8217;s monthly publication <strong>Frontiers</strong> magazine, September 2010 issue is <a title="Boeing's frontiers magazine" href="http://www.boeing.com/news/frontiers/archive/2010/september/Sept10_singles.pdf">available for download here</a>:</p>
<p>The cover story this month deals with Boeing&#8217;s efforts to protect vital information and its networks from attack from cyber security threats. Also the Boeing Company&#8217;s acquisition of the Sunnyvale, California-based company,Narus, which is a provider of real-time network traffic and analytical software to defend against cyber crime is discussed.</p>
<p>Howard Hughes was passionate about aviation and a true aviation pioneer. This month marks the 75th anniversary of one of Howard Hughes aircraft,  the  Hughes H-1- racer breaking the existing world speed record of an aircraft by flying at 314 mph. The former Hughes aircraft Company is now subsidiary of the Boeing Company.</p>
<p>Boeing contends that the Airbus subsidies are illegal and discusses the decision by the World Trade Organization that European subsidies have given Airbus an unfair vantage.</p>
<p>Boeing has facilities around the country and uses publication to highlight the hard-working employees at some of these locations. This month they discuss Boeing facility and teams in Utah supporting the Defense programs and making jetliner parts.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The September 2010 Smithsonian<strong> Air and Space Magazine </strong> has been posted on the Smithsonian website and is <a title="air and space Museum magazine" href="http://www.airspacemag.com/issue/September-2010.html">available to read online here.</a></p>
<p>if you&#8217;re not familiar with this magazine it  is a high-quality publication, really one of the best aviation related magazines in print today. The articles are entertaining, informative and accurate.</p>
<p>Articles this month include a veteran reporter describing his search for the aircraft of area 51/Groom Lake. Undergoing a major expansion since 2005, Groom Lakes uncompromising secrecy can breed abuses of power. Even in the early 1990s it was estimated that the cost for Groom Lake was almost $100 million a day.</p>
<p>Employees of the base are prohibited from discussing any details concerning their work however some have offered glimpses of what it is like to work at the base to the veteran reporter. Most of the workers live in the Las Vegas area and fly to Groom Lake on Boeing 737s painted white with the nose to tail red stripe. Typically many of the workers fly to the base on a Monday and back to Las Vegas and home on a Thursday or Friday although daily round trips are common.</p>
<p>In space exploration the article lost in space details microgravity&#8217;s mysterious side effects and things disappearing.</p>
<p>In how things work a team setting out to solve old disappearances an article titled cold case  looks for long-lost aircraft.</p>
<p>In military aviation the Douglas C-133 had a bad habit, it it kept crashing. Originally designed to transport the first US ICBMs the aircraft is discussed in an article is titled &#8220;the curse of the cargo master&#8221;.</p>
<p>In the article the force is with them, the science of what changes the speed of the spacecraft find Earth is discussed.</p>
