This month’s articles include the aeromedical advisory column discussing defeating dehydration. The standard guidelines for proper hydration is to drink 2 to 4 quarts of water every 24 hours avoiding dehydration which can create hazardous to your health as well as your safety is a pilot.
Climbing into thin air discusses the dangers of density altitude and its effect on aircraft operation. As air becomes less dense it reduces lift because the thin air exerts less force on the airfoils. Also thrust is reduced because a propeller is less efficient. And finally power is reduced because the engine takes in less air.
